PSP (Pressure Sinking Pellet) Filters

Commercial Grade Solids-Capture & Biological Filtration with Optional Automatic Backwash Capability.
|
|
Commercial PSP Filters feature a “Spun-Wound Fiberglass" construction. They offer exceptional durability and are best suited for commercial applications. Commercial PSP Filters feature enlarged filter lateral openings which increase filter media bed circulation and allow for the use of a larger filter media. Large filter media is more suitable for heavy solid waste applications. This combination of specialized filter laterals and our 4-8 mm FilterClay media provides better solid waste capture and more effective backwashing as compared to fine sand. Commercial PSPs are available in either top-mount or side-mount valve styles and in eight sizes with a maximum flow rate of 300 GPM.
PSP Filter Advantages:
- Commercial PSP Filters are available in sizes of up to 48 inches in diameter with a maximum flow rate of 300 GPM.
- Commercial PSP Filters come complete with either a top-mount valve or a multi-port side mount valve and piping.
- “Fixed” Filter Media Bed provides effective solid waste capture and backwashing of the media.
- FilterClay Media is of a specific size and weight best suited for heavy solid waste applications.
- FilterClay Media is porous which provides an exceptional environment for nitrifying bacteria.
- Six-way, Multi-port Filter Valve simplifies operation.
- Simple design, easy to install and maintain.
- Remote positioning capable.
- PSP Filters can be used with your media: notify your sales rep. before purchasing.

Increase filtering and backwash efficiency with our FilterClay Media. FilterClay is pure, organic clay, finely ground and granulated into specific sized pellets (4 – 8 mm). These are then baked at a high temperature inside a rotary kiln, without the addition of artificial additives, pesticides, or dyes. FilterClay Media weighs significantly less than sand and resists caking, creating a more effective filter bed. FilterClay is better suited for heavy solid waste applications (such as animal exhibits) and provides an exceptional environment for colonizing nitrifying bacteria. |
|
Comparing PSP Filter and Sand Filter Performance:
Why are PSP Filters better than Sand Filters? Fine sand media is intended for swimming pools, and is not intended for heavy solid waste applications like ornamental ponds and animal exhibits. Sand Filters use fine sand. Sand is heavy and easily overloads with waste, cakes up, and results in media bed channeling.
Why are PSP Filters better than Floating Bead Filters? PSP Filters do not use screens or air blowers! Floating Bead Filters require internal filter screens to prevent the floating bead media from escaping from the filter. Screens easily clog with debris/waste. Bead filters also require agitation (air blowers) to break up packed media.
The PSP Filter Solution is: Specialized internal filter laterals, unique FilterClay filter media and a non-obstructive filter diffuser.
 |
FilterClay Media & Filter lateralThese laterals have larger openings that maximize circulation within the filter during filtering and backwashing, resulting in better solids capture and filter media bed cleaning. |
 |
Filter DiffuserNon-Obstructive Filter Diffuser allows large particle waste to exit from the filter easily. There are no screens to clog. |

Optional Automatic Backwashing
Complement our commercial PSP Filters with our Automatic Backwash Valve. For independent, trouble-free operation, use the valve's touch pad. The touch pad commands its internal microprocessor to sense pressure differences across the filter and to initiate service automatically.
